The Clippers are no longer just that other NBA franchise that happens to play their home games in the same arena as the Lakers. They are a force to be reckoned with, and loaded with star power.
But being relevant isn't enough. The Los Angeles Clippers are looking to build upon their recent success and take it all the way to an NBA championship.
While the Lakers may still be the glamour team of Los Angeles, they are no longer the only exciting NBA team to catch at the Staples Center. The atmosphere is electric! Purchase your tickets to the next Clippers game online, or by calling VIP Tickets at (800) 328-4253.
The 2015-2016 Season
Key players added: Lance Stephenson, Paul Pierce, Wesley Johnson, Josh Smith, Cole Aldrich
Key players lost: Matt Barnes, Glen Davis, Spencer Hawes
To say the Clippers' offseason was interesting would be an understatement. After verbally agreeing to a four-year, $80 million contract to play for the Dallas Mavericks, center DeAndre Jordan changed his mind and decided to stick with the Clippers.
The foundation of the team is the duo of Chris Paul and Blake Griffin, but having an all-star caliber center to anchor the post keeps the Clippers certifiable championship contenders in the always super competitive Western Conference.
Los Angeles Clippers History
The Clippers were one of three expansion teams in 1970, along with the Portland Trail Blazers and Cleveland Cavaliers. However, they spent 1970-1978 as the Buffalo Braves in Western New York before making their way to San Diego (1978-1984), then finally Los Angeles in 1984.
The Clippers playoff series win against the Denver Nuggets in 2006 was their first in 30 years.
While the team has made the playoffs 11 times in franchise history, they have never made it past the Conference Semifinals.
The Clippers won their first division title in 2013. And while they have yet to reach the NBA Finals, there is good reason to be optimistic that will change very soon.
Los Angeles Clippers Trivia: Did You Know'
After the franchise moved to San Diego from Buffalo, New York, they were renamed the Clippers, after the sailing ships that were often seen passing through San Diego Bay.
